In Medias Res

I have decided that there is no graceful way to start this blog. I have tried over, and over again to write a meaningful introduction that would let you know where this blog is going, but I just can not do it. I give up. Have no expectations of me. My life is not cohesive. I have no big picture. This is just stuff I do and make.

I will start where I am at right now.

My mom made me a beautiful quilt for my bed a few years ago, but I am afraid that it is wearing out fast. My little brat dog Banana keeps peeing and puking on it, so it has to go through the laundry at least once a week. No handmade quilt should have to endure this treatment. My solution to this problem is not so simple. I am making a new quilt so I can wash the other quilt half as much. I know, I know, it probably makes more sense for me to punish Banana, but look at her little face.

Anyways, my quilt is going to be made of little 2"x2" white squares and 2"x4" rectangles.

It's taking forever! I had to cut out over 1,000 tiny pieces, but I think its going to end up really cute. I'm sewing the pieces together in strips right now alternating square and rectangles. Each row takes me about 20 minutes to sew together, and the finished project has 40 rows. Wish me luck. For my first quilt, I sure came up with an easy but tedious pattern!
