Until recently, I didn't think I liked oranges. Pithy, tasteless out of season navels were the only thing I had ever tried. I loved orange juice, but I thought that was some sort of juicing miracle. It all changed when I bought a bag of Clementines! I will never see oranges the same! The secret to great oranges is eating them when they are in season, and orange season is NOW!!!
Since some fancy grocery stores are loaded down with at least 20 different varieties of oranges, I decided to buy a small variety and have a tasting with Parker. I bought us Robinson tangerines, satsuma mandarins, and gold nugget tangerines! They were so yummy! Our favorite by far was the Robinson tangerine. It had a really concentrated orange flavor; like orange juice! Our least favorite was the gold nugget tangerine. It tasted like sugar water, especially when compared to the Robinson! Next time I go to the fancy grocery store, I am going to do this again! It was fun, and delicious!
