Finding something special at a yard sale is such a great feeling! The price is usually the exciting part, but I think its the pure luck of the whole thing! I don't stop at yard/garage/estate sales as much as I would like. I work on Saturday and Sunday mornings, so I really don't have a chance to shop when the shopping is good. I was lucky last Friday when Parker spotted a little yard sale nestled far back in a South Congress neighborhood. Yard Sale On Friday?!?! I know, its a rarity!
Well, of course we stopped at the little sale, and I got these cute little avocado green mushroom print napkins! They weren't that great of a deal; the woman selling them knew exactly what she had. I think she referred to them as, "genuine 1960s vintage shroom napkins." She was spot on, well except for calling them shroom napkins... that's a little too hippie-dippie for my taste.
For some reason, the napkins make me think of pizza. I don't know if it is because I really like mushroom pizza, or because there is a mushroom themed pizza place in Austin... Either way, I decided to break in the new napkins on Catalan style pizza with peppers, tomatoes, and onion (recipe from the Mediterranean Vegan Kitchen by Donna Klein) served with a side of cream of broccoli soup (recipe from Get it Ripe by Jae Steele). Yum! It looked pretty sitting next to my neat new napkins too!
