And then it snowed

The weather here in Austin has been so bizarre lately. Last weekend was amazing and this weekend was equally beautiful, but sandwiched in the middle was a nasty cold and rainy mess. On Sunday I decided to try my hand at bread making, and it actually went pretty well even though the yeast in my pantry had long since expired.

I made oatmeal wheat bread, a recipe from one of my favorite blogs Posie Gets Cozy. My boyfriend Parker and my best friend Gabi were here to taste the final product that I served up with some Adzuki Squash soup from the Get it Ripe cook book by Jae Steele.

Since the weather was so pretty we decided to eat outside on the back porch. It was really nice! It was a little chilly as you can tell by Gabi's scarf, but that almost made the soup taste a little better. It's a really rustic soup made with butternut squash. I substitute black eyed peas for the Adzuki beans.

In other news!!! Selina, a co-worker from the Bed and Breakfast I work at, ordered some cupcakes from me for a little party she is throwing. Ever since the B &B's Christmas party I have gained a reputation as a pretty awesome vegan baker!! Horay! Selina has made it her personal goal to get me to start a home bakery. How awesome would that be?! What should I call myself? Amy Cakes? I dunno
